The Annual GBF food and gift drive for begins November 24 and runs to December 20 2007 and is spearheaded by the Grimsby Firefighters. Donations to the Christmas Hamper program can be made directly at the Grimsby Fire Station:
Saturday November 24, 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday December 1 , 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday December 8, 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday December 15, 10 am to 4 pm
A red drop box is also located at the fire station for people wanting to drop off donations for the Christmas Hamper program during other hours. Community members may also donate through their churches, schools, local businesses and service organizations. Donation bags are distributed by the Grimsby Firefighters in the local paper. The firefighters collect non perishable donations of food and gifts along the parade route of the Grimsby Santa Claus Parade December 1 2007.
Trinity United Church has graciously donated the use of their facilities for the Christmas Hamper Program again this year. Donations of food and gift items will be accepted at Trinity - one day only - Thursday December 20 from 10 am to 8 pm.
Financial donations to offset costs of the program are gratefully accepted. Charitable donation receipts are issued for financial donations received. Donations can be delivered to our office 181 South Service Road or mailed to us at PO Box 231 Grimsby Ontario L3M 4G3. Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Debit are accepted. Young and old alike gather together over a three-day period at Trinity United Church, 100 Main St. W. to help fill the Christmas Hampers with canned goods, gifts, fresh vegetables and gift certificates. These hampers are then distributed to Food Bank recipients as well as others in the community who are less fortunate.
Volunteers are welcome to come to Trinity United church to help sort, pack and deliver hampers:
Food Sorting December 20 2007 6:30 - 9 pm
Children are welcome to help sort food donations from 6:30 to 7:30 pm
Packing December 21, 2007 7 pm - 9 pm
Delivery December 22, 2007 8 am - 11 am
Once all hampers are delivered, food and gift items are returned to the GBF Foodbank to help families requiring food assistance throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to help sort and warehouse food items on the following dates at Trinity United Church:
Wednesday January 2 10 - 1; 1 - 4 pm
Thursday January 3 10 - 1; 1 - 4 pm
Friday January 4 10 - 1; 1 - 4 pm
GBF offers the Christmas Hamper Program to help less fortunate community members, including GBF Food Bank recipients celebrate the Christmas holiday season. Registration is required to receive a hamper. The deadline for Christmas Hamper registration is Monday December 3 2007. Registration forms are available at the GBF office located at 181 South Service Road during our regular office hours 9 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday; Friday 9 am to noon.
